Element 3- Introduces kids to social issues

This book is about a little girl living with her mom. They've been going through some hard times recently and her mom needs a little help with groceries, so they go to a food bank. The main character sees a friend from school at the food bank and shes visibly embarrassed to be there. Eventually through kindness, they both learn that it's ok to visit a food bank and that everyone needs help sometimes. This book relates to element 3 because it introduces kids to a real social justice issue like poverty. I would use this book in the classroom as just fun read along. Hopefully it will shed light onto a topic that may be relatable for some kids in the classroom that are too embarrassed to share their own experiences and to know that it's ok to get a little bit of help sometimes
