This book encourages children to understand and act on themes of social justice, showing how to create welcoming spaces and respond to prejudice through empathy and community action. There is two versions of this book by Heather Avis and both versions encourage social action by providing examples of positive behavior. One shows a community coming together to make amends for an act of racism, while this one shows to actively create an inclusive space through community wide talent show.
I would use this book in the classroom as just fun read along. Hopefully it will shed light onto a topic that may be reliable for some kids.
